THE SPRING RACING EDIT

The best excuse to frock up!

I get so excited when Spring rolls around because it means lots of Spring Racing fun! Any excuse to frock up is a good one in my books (and I get equally as excited as seeing everyone else's raceday looks, too!).

This year I'm looking forward to rockin' this head-to-toe Country Road outfit to a Spring Racing event - couldn't be more obsessed with the one shoulder cut and burnt orange colour of this dress, not to mention that it has pockets (!!), as well as these statement earrings and the beautiful woven detail of this headpiece.

While getting dressed up for the races is a lot of fun, it can also be stressful - so many components to a Spring Racing look to get right and so many gorgeous options to choose from! With that in mind, I've popped some pointers together to help you out if you're looking at putting together your Spring Racing looks for this season and don't know where to start!

TRY SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT

I think the thing I like most about getting dressed up for the Spring Racing Carnival is that you can do a little bit more than you would for a normal event or special occasion. With this in mind, go for something a little bit longer than your usual style and with a bit of detail, like an off shoulder, ruffle, print, colour you wouldn't usually wear or something even a little bit more adventurous in the design stakes!

HEADWEAR

It goes without saying that one of the most important parts of a Spring Racing outfit is the headwear. While I'm not the biggest fan of fascinators, hats are another story and are definitely my choice for my race day outfit. Something with a wide brim, oversized design or a little bit of detail gets my vote every time!

ACCESSORIES

I've mentioned countless times that accessories are key to any outfit and this doesn't change come race day. Big earrings are always my go-to for a little bit of bling, especially when it comes to a little bit of off shoulder action. I always like to match my bag to my shoes and headpiece colour too, to tie the outfit together.

EXPERIMENT WITH A LITTLE BIT OF COLOUR

Who even am I?! Self-confessed "black is best" girl can often make room for a little bit of colour when it comes to the Spring Racing Carnival - it's a nice place to experiment, put it that way. Not to go too crazy, though, my colours of choice would sit around the burnt oranges, blush pinks and maybe some emerald green.

COMFY SHOES

There is nothing worse than being stuck in uncomfortable shoes for a day on your feet (or being that person who takes her shoes off!) so this one is key. Block heels are always best when it comes to long-term comfort, so opt for something a little bit chunkier and not ridiculously high either!
