Summer Staples
The other day I came to the realisation that I have a lot of clothes in my wardrobe, but there were only a few items that I actually still liked. I know that sounds like a huge first world problem (don't worry, the humour is not lost on me!), but while culling the items I no longer wanted to wear, it got me thinking about what I really needed in my wardrobe for summer.
I think wardrobe culling and re-evaluating key season staples is something we should all do once in a while to avoid wardrobe disappointment.
So here is Part 1 of a (not sure how many parts yet) blog series on my summer staples - the things I have decided I really do need in my summer wardrobe to prevent purchasing items I'm going to hate within a few weeks. It feels good to have started a new capsule wardrobe for summer that includes things I love and know I will still be loving (and wearing!) as the season goes on!
First up, a playsuit, a fedora and a pair of lace up sandals. When you find a good playsuit, you've won the clothing lottery - it's the easiest way to create an outfit with minimal effort and most of the time, a playsuit can be transformed from day wear to night wear with a simple change of shoe. The rules of slip slop slap still apply when you're an adult, but now we can just be fashionable in the way we go about it with a killer fedora. I recommend one in black, one in tan, and one in a colour, like a soft pink. Strappy sandals are pretty transferable year after year, and with the gladiator trend going strong this season, it's a good time to invest in some that are a little bit more lace up and a little more daring.
Voila - three items to get you through summer that I guarantee you won't hate after a few wears!
